Calling all Amiga Technitions, I've got an A4000/30, I bought a 25Mhz PLCC FPU, took the machine to pieces, installed it. Got myself into a reboot loop with a yellow screen, I've checked the jumpers are set to PLCC I even got hold of another FPU to check if the first was duff, same result. Why the hell doesn't it work? with the FPU out of the daughter board the machine performs normally… Errr Help! *IcE*

Paul, Just to the right of the jumper on the '030 card that you set for the PLCC mathco is another jumper you must set for the clock source to the mathco. (assuming pin one of the mathco is at the top of the board.) If you haven't provided an oscilator you must set that jumper to the SYS setting. (ie.. on the two pins on the right) If this jumper is missing, or set the wrong way, you will get the symptoms you describe. Dean DKB Software

Paul, usually, the yellow color indicates a system error detected by the CPU before the GURU, or whatever they are calling it these days, is installed. You might want to double check the orientation of the chip to make sure that pin 1 is where it is supposed to be. You might also want to check to make sure the chip is seated firmly. Other than those suggestions, I can't help you.

Thanks for the attempt, I confirmed pin orientation, and seatind al least three times… When I find out what the problem is I'll be sure to drop a line onto the forum… Thanx again *IcE*
