I once saw a message, (I think it was from you) where you had made a
comment that WinCIM was acting kinda weird. I too have recently
discovered this. I wonder if there is not a limitation as to how many
files can live in one directory. I had a whole directory of messages
dissapear twice, same directory. Also, now and then when I DL
messages, I get a time out and I loose the DL, (that bothers me
because these threads are hard to follow anyway.) Just wondering if
you were still experiencing any weirdness from WinCIM.
My wierdness seems to have stopped, so I'm chalking it up to PC
demons. I was getting responses to threads that I'd never read, even
though I check in on the forum twice a day. Since I bought a new
modem I haven't timed out. But I try to log on either at night, or
around noon. Seems the traffic is less then.
Some things are completely unexplainable. I got rid of the (folder)
or directory dissapearing act simply by changing the name of the
directory. It was originally called "vlan" as I was copying certain
vlan related messages there. Change it to a stupid name like "other"
and so far it still has messages in it. Hmmm, odd but true. Farmer
The only remaining weirdness on my WINCIM is that sometimes it'll miss one
message when I hit "send all".

I think I figured out what was happening with my dissapearing
messages, I was overloading a directory, Had about 500 files in
there. I don't know about DOS 6 but some older versions of DOS only
allowed about 298 files per directory.
600 messages? Yeow! Time to create a file system <g>.

The file limit only applies to the root directory, and is either
around 128 or 256 files. Subdirectories have no limit on the number
of allowed files. Could be a buffer problem in the software though.

The file limit is 512, not 128 or 256. I just ran into it last week, so *I
know*… <g>
