#PPage4.0 crashes
6 messages in this thread
I seem to be having a bit of a problem getting ProPage 4.0 to
behave… when running it from intuition, I get 8000 000B error,
which I can't even find in alerts.h. Other times it will come up
with 8100 0005 which is corrupt memory list. I thought this latest
version was more stable…. suggestions welcome as to anything that
might be causing this. (AutoPilot'ed from)
Jeff: Cutting in to note that if you actually have PPage 4.0 and not
4.1, you should get the free upgrade immediately. Cured all my own
crash problems. — Ron Legro from Milwaukee via AUTOPILOT
Thanks. I actually do have 4.1….and it seemed to have been working
ok, although its not something I use frequently. Just got ProDraw &
am now trying to put together some technical documentation for my
work using both products. Not having a great time. Called tech
support today & they suggested deleting s:ppage.dflt and
s:ppage.config…. that seemed to help some, but soon it started
crashing again, either on startup with 8000 0003 or 8000 0004 or when
loading a project or on exit; also see occasional message re "could
not start font engine — cannot display compugraphic fonts" (or
something like that — don't have my notes handy ). Tried
de-installing super-dark & a few other things; no better. I'm using
the MagicWB set of icons & etc, hope that's not eating too much
memory, but I've got the 1meg agnus & 4 megs fast, so without doing a
lot of multitasking I'd think that would be sufficient — the
document I was using today is only one page, too… again, thanks
for the input & I'm glad yours is working ok. (AutoPilot'ed from)
Um, have you used a file reader to look your PPAGE.INI file in the S:
drawer? Some assignments could be mangled. It's an undocumented text
file, but in pure ASCII and simple to modify. I've been using MagicWB
and PPage without trouble, though it's true I have about twice as
much fast RAM as you.
Meanwhile, you must have hexed me! See my other post here; suddenly
have a problem trying to load PPage, which says I'm missing one or
more lib files. This after months of generally flawless performance.
I did diddle the library files, but only to update a couple of them.
I don't think they had anything to do with PPage, in any case.
Jeff,
>could not start Font engine<
I got a similar responce when I was amalgamating my free PPage3.1 update
(the disk was faulty) and got that one on the first try, I found the
"Fonts" compresed file and decompressed it, then copied it over to were
the "mangled" file was. It has worked ok after that. You may need to check
the upgrade disks from Gold Disk (try copying to your RAM: disk to see if
that gets any block/write/read errors).
I want to upgrade to PPage 4.1 and the latest ver of PDraw ASAP!….when I
get some $$ together.

You need to get hold of ProPage 4.1. This will cure most, if not
all of your problems. Call Gold Disk and if you have registered they
will send you an updated copy.
