Sorry for a silly question but here goes… I want to be able to create 640x480x256 color test images to view in windows or with 3DS View command. I'd like to use color Compressed TIFF but GIF and TGA will work. I though I had it figured out but I keep getting 24-bit images…

TIFF and TGA files, by their very nature, are going to be 24 bits (though you can also create 16-bit files). If you want an 8-bit image, render a GIF file.

Thanks Jack, That did the trick. I guess I started out by trying to create 24-bit images using GIF and was getting nothing but 8-bit. So I figured I didn't know how to create 24-bit images. Then switching to Tiff I got plenty of 24-bit files but couldn't rember how to get back to 8-bit. Anyway Thanks! –Steven Walters 70524,634
