I heard something interesting the other day. Lightrave has already
been cracked. You no longer need the Lightrave dongle which replaces
the Toaster dongle to run Lightwave. So basically, you can run normal
Lightwave with cracked Lightrave and get the benefits of both. I've
not seen this myself, but there's a certain ironic quality about the
whole thing.
I was talking to someone who has seen the cracked version of
lightrave running and said it worked just like his toaster version,
however he heard that there is a problem on A4000 & A1200 machines.
Apparently the LightRave screen is two big for the screen display, he
new someone running it on an A4000 and they had to scroll around to
get to the button functions on the left and right side. The scoop he
heard about someone trying it on an A1200 was the same except that
the screen wouldn't scroll so the buttons on the left and right side
where kinda useless. I don't know if this is a problem with
lightRave itself, the cracked version, or how these people had their
systems set-up.
Interesting. I can't say I mind that it doesn't work well 🙂

NewTek just ended their software upgrade policy too. If you want 3.0
Toaster software, you now have to turn in a board and pay about $300
more.
Wait a minute. If I want 3.0 software, and I have to turn in a board
to get it, what am I going to run the software on?
You'll get the Toaster 4000 hardware in return along with the Toaster
3.0 software. Sorry I didn't make that clearer.
That's one of the responses I expected. I wish they'd register Toaster serial
numbers, instead. Sending the board back sounds like a hassle.
