Spectrum's Screen ID's??
8 messages in this thread
Gary,
In order to accomplish something using DirectoryOpus with my EGS
Spectrum board, I need to know EGS' VGA (640×480) and SVGA (770×600,
800×600, and 1024×768) screen's unique screenmode ID's (i.e. standard
amiga hires interlaced's screenmode ID is 32772). Any chance of obtaining
a list of ID numbers (if such a list exists)?
Thanks!

I don't have any of that information here, but I'll pass the request on to the
operating system authors…
Thanks. I would appreciate it!

A little work with my SAS/C compiler and I've generated a database
of ScreenMode ID's for EGS Spectrum screens:
Type Size ScreenMode_ID
VGA 640×480 67112961
NTSC 736×480 67112962
PAL 736×576 67112963
LACE 1024×768 67112966
SVGA 800×600 67112969
SVGA 1024×768 67112970
SVGA 770×600 67112971
I hope this helps any other intrepid EGS Spectrum user!

Thanks for your eager, and actually quite accurate, information. For
the most part, your information is correct, but there is one flaw in
your methods: The screenmodes present in your system only exist
because of the MONITOR you selected for your EGS set-up. Other
monitor selections have other screenmode resolutions, and naturally,
other ID's. I'm trying to get a complete list of ScreenModes and
ID's from the authors of the libraries for all the monitors and
screenmode types.
But, thanks again for your work. Whatever monitor you have selected,
will always have the screenmode ID's you indicated below, so that
should help at least a common group of EGS programmers…
By the way, what monitor do you have selected? 🙂

Gary,
My monitor is a standard C= 1950. Have you had a chance to find out
why my 800x600x24 screen has a 41 Hz sync, while your's is 51 Hz ???
BTW, I'm expecting a new ver. 11 SuperBuster via UPS, so I should have
my Spectrum up to full Zorro III speed by the weekend (as long as my A3000
survives the surgery <g>).
Any idea when the EGS support libraries for programmers will be
uploaded????

Roy,
Where did you find the rev11 SuperBuster?
-Richard
Richard,
I got the SuperBuster from Software Hut (tel. # 800-93-AMIGA).
I plan on anesthetizing my Amiga Saturday morning, and performing a
"Buster transplant", wish me luck!
<if no one hears from me again, it means I blasted my motherboard
during the "operation" <g> >
