Is that data written with this utility still Abekas compatible?
For example, could I use this utility to do my rendering/rotoscoping (like you
proposed), and then take the finish set of files, as written, to the Abekas
DDR. Or, would I need to somehow transfer these finished files to tape *not*
using this driver? Is it hardware, software, or both?

No, the output is *not* Abekas compatable.
It's a set of software drivers…hope that helps.

I'm coming in on this conversation in the middle (sorry). What's not
Abekas compatible?
The *amazing* tapedisk driver…- it let's you treat your Exabyte (and
other) Tape Drive as a Dos device…kinda like a 5Gig worm drive.
Hey, I bought your drivers and have the follwoing questions…:
(1) Is there a dos version that I can call from 3D studio.
(2) I want to be able to send out non-standard file sizes (i.e 756*486 and 512
* 486) etc…. WITHOUT cropping them down or up to 720*486…can u help!?>?!
These things would increase the usefulness of the drivers muchos.
Instead of just using them for dumping to Exabyte, I could use the to
store massive projects..*AND* share the rendered files with the
Amiga/Lightwave…(I bought your Amiga drivers too..so need the
variable file size on both platforms.)

Are you sure? The newest version of the Abekas software will read in
a Targa file…

this refers to the Tapedisk software driver (see prev. msg). Because
it formats the dirve in its own way..so that Dos sees it as just
another drive (albeit a colossal one)…the Abekas would have no way
of deciphering the contents. You need to get ASDG's Abekas
reader/writer package for Windows to be able to lay out files for
Abekas.
So from what you are saying the drive would not be compatible with
anyone else's Exabyte unless they had the software? Not necessarily
a problem, just good to know up front.
