#Dubbing Decks

A Letter to the Editor in the September VTU about dubbing quality to
VHS decks caught my eye. This is an area I and perhaps a few others
haven't addressed adequately.
I have used outside dubbing facilities for larger copy runs, but find
quite often the need to make a few dubs in house.
Wondered if anyone has had any particularly good or bad experiences
with certain VHS decks, and the tape you use in them, for dubbing.
Thinking of immigrating to the U. K. ;-]

Gary,
Yeah (whoops, there goes my English), I originally used "emigrate" in
my note. Then, foolishly and on a whim, I decided to run the text through
Proper Grammar. Comment from the program:
"'Emigrate' means 'leave one's native country'. 'Immigrate' means
'move to a new country'. 'Migrate' means 'move from place to place'."
"Immigrate", as defined above, better reflected my intended meaning
since I'm more of a half-full than half-empty kinduv guy. However, I
agree that "immigrate" does sound awkward in that phrase. Could this be
yet another case of colloquial usage overtaking meaning?
Thinking of 'grating to the U.K. 8-)…
