Hi All,
I would like to create a scrolling titles as well as fading in/out titles for
genlocking. I used to be able to do this very nicely with Director 2.0, which
worked great under WB1.3, okay under WB2.04, but doesn't work at all with WB3.
Director 2 accomplished smooth scrolls by double-buffering selected IFF images
and incrementally moving them up or down the screen. It was easy to do
(especially with their supplied script).
I have the following tools to work with (and no, I can't afford a toaster):
Brilliance 2, DP IV, AdPro 2.5, Animworkshop2.0, GVP G-Lock, and will soon
purchase IMrt. Any suggestions, techniques, recommended downloads, or other
software? I would like to be able to use multiple fonts if possible.

PS I still have my A2000 and another genlock, but would still like a way to do
it all on the A4000.

considering your setup, good ole DPaint might be your best bet. Keep the
bitplane depth low for fastest screen updates, and set # frames to 500.
Create a screenful of credit text on the spare page. Pick it up as a
brush, set the handle to the top left or right corner. Stamp your cursor
at the bottom of the main page, on frame 1. <U>ndo, just to create good
habits. Use the Move requester and move your brush in Y by twice the
screen height, e.g. for a hi-res, severe overscan screen, you'd move up
960 pixels over 200 frames. This means the bottom of the brush will appear
on frame 100, and frame 101 is where the top of the second screenful of
text should appear. Go to frame 101, spare page, erase the old screen and
compose the second page of your credits. From then on, repeat the above
steps: pick up as brush, swap to main page, stamp down at bottom and undo,
bring up Move requester (keep same values), perform move, advance to frame
201, and so on.
To smoothly scroll an entire credit sequence, you'l need tons of frames;
this is another reason to keep the bitplane depth low. I suggest 4 colors:
color 1 for person's role, color 2 for a separator bar, color 3 for
person's name. (And of course color 0 is genlock-transparent) Using 2
bitplanes, you can create lonnng DPaint animations.

Thanks Charles for the tutorial, I'll give it a try as soon as I get my A4000
working again (I tried installing a syquest drive and buggered up my IDE cable
<rats>).

outlined and more. BT2 also has a special built-in Disolve and now Close
