I bought a western digital card & just found out that its not fully supported.
It was supposedly supported when I bought it.
Can you guys give us a hint at whether or not Vibrant will be supporting Ver 4
or Ver 5?

I'm not familiar with your card – is Western Digital the name or model of the
card? Or are you referring to a particular chipset?
If you can run MSD from a DOS prompt, let us know what the video section reads.
I'm particularly interested in chipsets, since the Western Digital PVGA1,
90c00, 90c30, 90c11, 90c31, 90c33 are all supported in 3DS4.
Which revision of the Vibrant drivers are you referring to? We're shipping the
latest with R4, which is version 1.0.5.P1, available here as VIB3DS.ZIP

The card is the Western Digital WD 90c33. It only has drivers under vibrant
with 3D Studio Ver 3.0 to 640×480 at 256 colors. Have tried Vibrant BBS &
called IBMHD Forum. No luck.

Are you saying that I have to upgrade to ver 4.0 to get the vibrant drivers for
a card that I bought last summer to render properly. Sounds like the upgrade
path isn't too smooth. Will you still be supporting the targa 64 + with ver
4.0. I know how difficult it is to maintain compatability with some many
different configs out there. But your dealers should be able to sell hardware
which will work as sold for more than 6 months. To drive or not to drive that
is the question?

no no! This is the deal. Starting with 3DS3, Vibrant supplied a slew of
drivers that shipped with 3D Studio. This supplemented the ADI technique of
supporting cards, where the manufacturer of the graphics card was responsible
for the driver. Release 3 and 4 can use any of the Vibrant Inline drivers,
although you would expect the very latest drivers to be the best, particularly
if you have a new card that wasn't supported a year or so ago.
Whenever Vibrant gives Autodesk the latest drivers, they're posted here as
VIB3DS.ZIP. Download them, rename (back up) your old VIBRANT.RES and
VIB3DS.VLM files, and unzip the VIB3DS.ZIP into your \3DS4 directory. You do
not need R4 to use the latest drivers.

I downloaded the last set a couple months ago and still can't get the 640×480
16 mil. It appears that this card is not supported at 640×480 16 mil. Was the
wd 90c33 ever supported above 256 colors. Tried the 90c31 but that creates a
nasty zap when changing between modules.
Will the WD 90C33 ever be supported?
