Hi! I hope someone can help. I just bought an EPSON "ActionLaser" 1500 for my AMIGA 2000 using 2.1. I have tried Pro Wite 3.2 and Excellence with the same results. I am using the print driver "HP Laser Jet" as suggested in the EPSON manual as one of many print drivers. When I use the NLQ mode I can't seem to regulate the font sizes and with some fonts I have a problem with spacing between words. Is this a print driver problem? Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help. Thanks Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 **

Barry, I am NO expert in this area, but it sounds like more of a font problem than a driver problem. Proportionally spaced fonts or the mixing of proportional/non-proportional can cause some of the problems you describe. Proportional fonts coupled with justification can also result in some strange looking spacing. Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Gary, Thanks for the quick response! Based on what you stated it sounds like I should be using a good non-proportional font. What do you recommend? Thanks, Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 **

Courier, if you like the IBM Selectric typewriter style. That's what we us at work for things that're supposed to look like a letter. Bob Comer Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.

Hmmm, I'm not surprised. I'm having the same problem with excellence! and the CBM HP driver. Kelly Jordan is looking at the output from excellence! for me so we might know more soon. Wolf Faust says that the Commodore driver is pretty limited so I'm probably going to get his new Studio 2.0 drivers when they come out. You wanna be kept informed? -Karl

Karl, Thanks, yes I would like to be kept informed on the new Studio 2.0 drivers! Do they replace the drivers that Commodore have out? Is Studio 2.0 a package of print drivers or other things too? Barry ** Barry Balderston AMIGA 2000/2.1 ** ** 2144 Golf Links Road, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635 **

Barry, The Epsons work just fine with the C= HPLaser drivers. No problem there. The problem is with the software you're using. ProWrite is great for screen display but its print quality with lasers is atrocious. I've heard Excellence has similar problems. I have a couple of suggestions: 1) Get FinalWriter or Final Copy. 2) Get Post1.7, it's in the libs here. I used Post for some time with ProWrite with excellent results on my Epson. Post is kind of a hassle to set up but once you've got it running it's great. You'll need to print in post script to file in Prowrite and then run the file through post's special hplaser executable. The only caveat may be the amount of ram in your printer. Mine has 2 megs and handles most print jobs I have. -Richard
