#A4000 040 into 3000T
8 messages in this thread
Is it possible to mount an amiga 040 module into the 3000 tower and if so what
needs to be done.
thanks
Don,
Is this the A3640 daughtercard? If so, it doesn't take a great deal.
You need to change two jumpers, install the card, get the 68040.library file
and the latest SetPatch. The jumpers are J100 and J104, I believe. J100 is a
three pin jumper normally on pins 2-3, and needs to be moved to pins 1-2. J104
is a four pin jumper with the jumper on 1-2 and needs to be moved to 3-4.
There are two files either in Amigauser or Amigatech libs which provide
a discussion of the installation and some IFF pictures of the A3640 manual
pages on the the installation. You might hunt those down by searching on 3640
or 68040 for them.
However, I don't know if the daughterboard from an A4000 is the same as
the A3640, so you're going to need to research that a bit further.
It is, at least for 040 4000s.
Yes, but he needed to know if it worked in 3000 towers. I'm not familiar with
the daughterboard in 4000, so I didn't know if it was the same board as the
A3640, which I know does work in the 3000s.
All the same.
Dale,
Thanks for that information.
Steven:
Do you know if J100 and J104 need to be changed when using a third-party
040 board like the G-Force or the Warp Engine? What do these two jumpers
do?
Wayne
Wayne,
You will need to check the installation instructions for those
products. I don't know a thing about them. If you have one of those boards
and the installation instructions don't tell you to change any jumpers on the
motherboard, then don't.
