There *is* no A1200 version, I am told. I ordered a copy of the A2000 version for my other Amiga. The A1200's ROM is surface mounted, I believe, which is why one can't (easily) upgrade. However, someone told me it would be possible to run the 3.1 software with the 3.0 ROM on the A1200. Probably would not have the bug fixes that presumably are in 3.1 ROM, but would have stuff like the CD-ROM driver.

Let me know how it goes! btw, the A1200's rom's are not surface maounted. (at least in my 1200 they're not.) Bob Comer Cheyenne, Wyoming U.S.A.

Actually, A1200 ROM's aren't surface mounted. There just isn't a version of 3.1 for that machine (yet).

RL >>The A1200's ROM is surface mounted, I believe, which is why one can't (easily) upgrade.<< The A1200 ROMS are socketed, however, there has not been a version of the 3.1 KickStart encoded in the proper 32-bit, 2 ROMs format. This ROM set will need the drivers for supporting the PCMCIA slot & belly expansion. — RL >>it would be possible to run the 3.1 software with the 3.0 ROM on the A1200. Probably would not have the bug fixes that presumably are in 3.1 ROM, but would have stuff like the CD-ROM driver.<< From my understanding, the 3.1 Workbench will work with 3.0 ROMs, but not 3.1 features will be available.
