Greetings everyone, I just bought a Amiga 500p and the only software I have for
it is workbench 1.3. I do not know anything about the Amiga other than I have
always wanted one. (i am calling with an ibm) I would like to be able to call
compuserve with my amiga (2 drives no hard drive). I have an external P.P.
modem that I use with my Ibm. Can this be used with my Amiga…and where can I
find a comm program to call with. Do they still HAVE THE Amiga magazine. I
have only seen amiga world. I would appreciate any help you could give me.
And does anyone know what going to happen now that C.I. is going under. thanks
bob.
Yes, you can use any modem with the Amiga as long as you know which is the
serial port on the Amiga and have a normal serial cable for the modem. The
best shareware/pd terminal program is called Term, and the latest version, 4.1,
is available in the Communications library. Do a bro key:term lib:all from any
library in the AmigaUser sig and you should find it.
Robert,
With 1.3, we cannot offer you an automated program for CompuServe. We
have a great one, but it requires at least 2.04 of the OS, 2M of memory,
and a hard drive. We do have quite a few good terminal programs in
Library 5. Backtalk seems to work well with CompuServe. Search on BT*.*
to find it easily. I keep forgetting the version number.
Oh, and you can use almost any modem with your Amiga. If it works on your
MSDOS machine, it should work on the Amiga with proper software.
