Ya' know, it's rather odd. I have this "loyalty" thing, I hate it. Even
when a comp. goes obsolete, I refuse to ditch it for another platform not
made by the same company! Thank god I never got a mac loyalty.
If I could conquer the **** thing, I'dve prob'ly not changed yet anyway:
the amiga is still ahead: and I don't see that changing for at least 3
years! ('course, even if ami is a dead comp. by then, I'll still own it,
curse this loyalty!)

You may just be right… I just watched Nextstep tonight and they had a
story about somputer processed video. The manufacturers were all touting
their wares, then they made the comment that PC's/Mac's would be able to
generate broadcast video in about 2 years. (I had to chuckle a bit on that
one. 🙂

Ah, you didn't mention that the only vendor saying that was Radius.
There was no mention of InMax, Matrox, Fast and the others who are already
shipping products capable of broadcast quality. Just Radius, whose video
capture products are definitely not ready for prime time. The segment itself
was clearly oriented to the video non-professional.
Just thought I'd try to keep things in context. <G>

Fast, is good, but don't they use another processor? I wasn't impressed
with Matrox, and I'm not into Video. (but maybe the dome I was the
problem.) Never heard of InMax.

Interesting comments. I'll file them away for future use. (in case I ever
get into video!)
Seems like Nextstep should've done their story a bit differently.

I thought they were both from Radius. Not a big deal either way. Couldn't tell
what trade show they were at, but it appeared to be consumer (not professional)
oriented. One other thing occured to me: the program itself might have been a
year or more old. Radius has since introduced a 30fps card. It's gotten pretty
good reviews, even in the "professional" magazines.
Fast has cards that run on Intel and Macintosh. Matrox is also available for
both platforms.
Overall, it doesn't matter. Desktop video will be able over the place within
a few months for PC and Mac while Amiga is basically out of business at this
point with an uncertain future.
