Yeh, well not too many people want to spring for the 486, it's quite a
bit more expensive than the plain BB. If you come across anyone, thought,
who's interested in a 486 conversion, please keep me in mind and pass along my
name and CIS id.
What do you have and how much?

I have an A2386 25Mhz Bridgeboard with an EMC (Elite Micro Computers)
486SLC upgrade. This upgrade is NOT the Cyrix "clip on" upgrade. This one is
a chip replacement. The 386 was removed and replaced by the 486SLC (not the
new clock doubled chip). The board has 5 meg of page mode zip ram – 1 meg of
256k x 4 chips and 4 meg of 1 x 4 chips rated at 80 ns. If the ram is replaced
with 60 ns chips you can run the board at 33 Mhz, and I have the crystal
oscillator module for that. However, the ram on the board now is not fast
enough to run reliably at 33 Mhz, so it has the 25 Mhz oscillator installed.
To switch merely involves putting in faster ram and swapping oscillator modules
(they are plug-ins).
The 486 has a cooling fan installed on top of the chip to assure no
overheating.
I am asking $650 for the board. Since a BB retailed at $200, the ram
at $192, and the upgrade was $650 ($1,042), this seems a reasonable price. If
you buy a new BB and install the Cyrix chip and extra ram and cooling fan, you
would be at roughly the same cost.
