#NDUMP and PAR

Gus,
I just installed a Lantastic 6.0 network (2 nodes currently, workstation and
slave) and purchased NDUMP.IXP to use with the PAR drive. I was given some
brief instructions with the disk and cannot figure out how to get the rendered
images to the PAR drive. What exactly needs to be in the batch file in the
Process To Execute box? Aside from this, the rest is pretty clear

The batch file could be as simple as:
@echo off
copy %1 pardrive:\directory
You could also add a "del %1" after that if you feel particularly lucky that
day! <g>

FWIW, I've not had any success with NDUMP deleting files on its own. Sorry Greg
and Gus 🙁 I've always had to add into the batch file the "del %1" If you
succeed without adding this line please let me know.

Thanks for the info. (As you see, I've finally "come out" on the board). I
managed to get NDUMP working after I figured-out that the output file name in
NDUMP had to be the same as the process output file name. Pretty simple, but
seemed to allude me for quite a while. I added the "del %1" and everything
worked perfectly. Network rendering is amazing to me. It really simplifies
things. Now, if only I could hook my network into yours,….
By the way, If you didn't receive my message a few months back, thanks again
for getting me started with PAR. It's really a wonderful thing. Hope to see
you over at THG sometime soon.

To be honest I didn't know if it was really you after all of the aliases,
plastic surgery, witness protection plan, etc. <G> You've run into exactly
the same problems with NDUMP that I had. I got absolutely no documentation
with the program yet Greg immediately sent me a coupla' pages to help out. Even
so, the problem that you mentioned about naming the 3DS output file the same as
the file name in NDUMP may seem obvious but I blew that one, too. Just to
confirm that the problem I had was real, are you saying that you, too, had to
add the "del %1" to your batch program to get the files to be deleted?
Wouldn't delete 'em without it, right? I did receive your message a while back
but I didn't know if responding via e-mail was going to get to you or fall into
the hands of an enemy (so to speak). If I can converse with you via Dennis
Bragg's account I'll continue to do so. (Is Dennis Bragg the name the feds
gave you?)

Not quite. I went to work for Dennis at Graphics Software when I left THG. It
was during that time that I hooked them up with Cserve and they were set-up
with this account. The feds don't have any book on me as of yet. However, you
might want to address all future correspondence to "Elvis" just in case<g>.
Anyway, I'm finally out in the open, so I look forward to many good future
converations!
Yeh, I had some crazy problems with NDUMP, compounded by the fact that I was
installing a Lantastic network at the same time. For a $150 I expected to get
some more complete documentation, with an example maybe. I finally got it to
work but I had to add the "del %1" to the batch program as you did. I suppose
there'e a bug in NDUMP somewhere. But, I have to say, Greg Pyros was right
there, on-line, with some great help that got me up and running.
I'm sure I'll have other questions for you in the future. Thanks for the
reply.
