I just want to let everyone know that 3D Studio Special Effects is now
shipping! It has effects from David Stinnett, Jon Bell, Tim Forcade, Steven
Elliott, Phil Miller, Richard Sher, Greg Pyros, Martin Foster, and others.
Three of the special effects in this book appear in the 3DS SIGGRAPH '94 demo
reel. The book is in full color and includes a CD-ROM with all the project
files and maps needed to re-create all of the effects yourself (and so you can
analyze them). There's also another 300MB or so of Tim Forcade's mutant maps
including over eight(!) minutes of animated maps (with IFL files). Get 'em
while they're hot!
You can find the book at the usual large chain bookstores (Barnes & Nobel,
Crown, etc.) and anywhere that sells New Riders Publishing books. For fastest

I'm really upset that it's 2:16am and only a large brick would get me inside my
favorite bookstore. Guess it'll have to wait 'til tomorrow. I'll have to pull
a "Mervins" — "Open. Open. Open." (…don't know if "Mervins" is a nationwide
chain)

It'll take a week or two for the bookstores to stock it.

I ordered my copy last Thursday with overnight delivery, even Sat
delivery service if they did not get to it immediately. Here I sit,
its Tuesday and I still have yet to see my copy. How can this be,
there is nothing worse than coming home with no mail waiting!!!! I
hope it will arrive sooon!!!
