#Self-boot before render

I am trying to render a single frame of an animation via the keyframer but the computer boots itself before the ACTUAL rendering begins – that is just after it is creating the materials etc. The only thing different about this animation from others that I have created is that is contains more vertices and faces than usual. Is there a setting in the 3ds.set file that I need to modify to solve this problem Thanks for your help

If you've got a very large scene that's rebooting your computer, you've probably got a memory management problem with Phar Lap not being able to create a swap file and dying in the process. Perhaps one of the hardware experts here on the forum would have some ideas about how to start diagnosing that. – G

Thank you for your reply After some tweeking, the problem is currently as follows:- If I for example have 4 "objects" displayed in the scene, after rendering I notice that the CURRENT STATUS indicates that a SWAP file of 2 MB has been created. (I have a total of 24 MB on the system) When I unhide another object, a 6 MB swap file is created. However, when I re-render this scene 3D studio exits automatically and returns me to the DOS prompt. I should add that I am currently running 3D studio from a compressed drive in DO 6.0 with the swap file also on this drive with 96MB free space. The problem was the same when I ran 3D Studio from an uncompressed drive.

As I said, there's not much I can help you with re hardware problems. Perhaps one of the other folks on the forum can suggestion something, but the only thing I'd tell you would be to start swapping out pieces of your system, starting with your HD controller and moving on from there.
