I received your model. It reminded me of Centre George Pompidou here in Paris,
where all the pipes and internal fittings are on the outside.
By now you should have the simple tower model I put together in an hour or so.
It's fairly rough but it may give you some ideas. You can see how the satellite
dishes are positioned. I would like to add a lot more communication devices
over the tower. The cable running from the largest spire to the ground is the
power cable. On the ground I want to create a large generator that pumps the
electricity to this big energy guzzler.
I can see that if I want to put a lot of detail in the gothic style that the
face count could easily explode. I think that we could create a basic model
from our different components then see how many faces result. If there is room
for more faces I'll add some more detail and tracery(I love this stuff).
This is only a rough so suggest some changes. I'm awaiting your feedback. I
want to do a lot more changes myself, so when I have something more substantial
I'll send a copy to both you and Bruce.

I tried to upload the file three times. Each time the computer is about 1/3 the
way through sending the file it hangs and I have to reboot. On the last attempt
a General Protection fault was produced in WinCIM. I am using WinCIM 1.2F. It
is could be that there is a bug in this version that has been fixed in a more
recent version. If not has anyone got any ideas on what is causing this
problem?

I wasn't trying to upload the file to the forum but instead send it by e-mail
to someone else. Have you got any ideas why my computer got 12% through the
upload then decided to hang?

Could be several reasons, assuming that you're using an error correcting modem
with the error correction in hardware. It could have been someone picked up
your line (an extension phone) while you were online. Or your long lines
provider switched links on you (if you were not on a local node). This works
the same as picking up the phone. The local phone company switched lines on
you. Your protocol got itself lost during data checking (the 'puter skipped a
beat). Or you're using software error correction and it got lost. Happens all
the time with software emulation. Line was noisy and the protocol was so busy
keeping up with the rereads that it just timed out. Nothing happens during a
voice call when these things happen, but they drive data calls bananas.
If these aren't enough, I can probably come up with more…..<g>.
So it could be a million and one things that caused the problem. Though I have
a private line so I don't think I saw someone under my desk pulling out the
plug. I guess I'll just have to retry again, and again, and again, and again,
eh?

Unfortunately that's the way it is Dave. Even though modem communications are
quite frequent, they ain't assured. The biggest problem is probably the copper
line to your house. I got one that has a connection that tends to corrode
(about 3 panels down the line). Every time the line starts going bad, I call
them up and they go clean the connection.
