Anyone seen the Saturday morning (9:30 AM) cartoon titled Reboot?
Cool models, pretty good animation and a typical saturday morning cartoon
storyline animation and story line. All in all I was impressed, producing a
half hour series with 3-D characters that talk and act must be a formidable
undertaking. Anyone know who is creating this and what software is being used.

Hi Max,
I saw the program one morning and was so impressed by it that I called the
production company in Canada and spoke with the head of their animation team.
They are using SGIs ith their own software. The woman I spoke with mentioned
the name however, I've forgotten it. The production time, including bug in
their software is of about one month per episode, so you can tell that they
have been working onthis for a while.
That's all I really know about it, I hope it helps…

Hey Alex,
Yeah it's cool to see 3-D animation finding its way into full length television
shows.
I can imagine that syncing the facial expresions and mouth movements to the
dialouge must be an enormous task.
It is also funny to hear the characters on kiddie TV throwing around whizzie
computer phrases straight out of a William Gibson novel.

The program is produced in Vancouver, BC by Limelight Productions,
using SGI's and SoftImage. I learned this from one of Limelight's
animators on the internet (could have been an impostor, but his net
domain name seemed authentic).
Thanks for the info. Where do you find the time to be on the
internet, you must be coordinating a pretty tight schedual there.
I basically devote an hour or so (used to be two, but I'm really busy right
now) to CIS and Internet access. I'm on a couple of listervers on the "net",
and also check into a few Usenet groups now and then (not religeously,
however). Schedule is tight, though. Wish I had more time for other stuff
like travel.

Is this maybe a cable thing? It is not listed for antenna type stations in
Portland, OR.

ABC network programming. The graphics are pretty good, but I found
the story lacking. (Of course, for "story" I watch Bugs Bunny).

Ok, I guess it just does not run here on our ABC, since I checked the
schedule, and rechecked and…
From the comments here, I wanted to see the character modeling you were
talking about. Does it have any "bad" language? Maybe that is why it isn't
shown here(?) I wonder.

No. It's kind of like a video game. Bad computer people (robots) chasing good
computer people and the good guys always winning in the end. A few
computerized particle explosions, some car crashes and broken robots are the
extent of the "violence". It's your typical PC 90's sort of kid's programming.

I have yet to see it at all! I will be looking for it now that I know it is
airing. I hope it did not miss the only episode they intend to run!
