I've been looking through this forum for a while and I'm amazed at how many
people are involved in desktop editing, and how much software and hardware is
available for P.C.'s. I am a Trailer and Commercial editor who works
exclusively on an Avid. Are there other Avid editors out there willing to swap
war stories, good and bad? SYSOP: Is this the right place for this kind of
dialouge? By the way, I have a Steve Potts Mt bike, but run Specialized tires,
chainrings, and some other stuff. (I noticed you work at Specialized) :-)>
Anyway, I digress. By the way, V5.2 just arrived and I've been waiting for the
bugs.

Sure!
I'm an Avid editor based in Stamford, Connecticut. I do a combination of
industrials and broadcast work. We have an Avid 800 and a 1000, both running
5.2.
Where are you based?

Hi! I own the Media Suite Pro 60 fps system here in Weston, CT. We've been
with the system since May, 93 and are really happy with the system and the
support. We would love to hear from other Avid editors in CT.

FYI, the April issue of Video Pro magazine has a reivew of the latest version
of MSP and will be on the newstands late in March. Besides testing the product
by doing a real professionally released video, we research some of the existing
users (too bad we didn't know you were there) to get there reaction to how it
had been going. We got a very mixed response which, I think, reflects the
turmoil going on as video and computers converge.
The response was that people who have migrated toward video from doing other
things with a computer were much happier than pro video producers who have
migrated to the desktop. This has a great deal to do with not only the quality
of the video, but with the way the human interfaces with his machines – a topic
that requires great discussion.
Anyway, I hope you get a chance to look at the upcoming issue and give us some
feedback. Of course, in the meantime, if there's anything I can do, drop me a
line. As an aside, I used to live in Westport, CT.
