Just from people who don't know their computers (and/or memory manager), I
guess.
I got the ATI Mach 64 with 4 Megs of RAM (PCI) and wouldn't trade it for
anything. It's the fastest thing around, gives me 1280×1024 in 16.7 mio colors
and comes with everything you need software-wise. The new Vibrant driver works
great with it.
(BTW, a friend of mine has the Diamond (2Meg, a BIG mistake in comparison)

Oh really?
What do you attribute then the problem that was associated with 3D Studio when
loading? Wasn't it a BIOS bug? I don't have a problem with ATIs (I have the
VLBus, GUpro Mach 32 w/2mb Ram) but they do tend to have certain problems that
other cards don't, with drivers and such, I mean.

Nope, (except it uses COM4:, so you can't use it with anything else)
When it comes to speed, the ATI GUP is unbeatable, I run it at
1280×1024 in 16.7 mio colors, a real joy to the eye…
