#blob modeler 4 morfs??
16 messages in this thread
hiya big G, and all,
Today's quote indicating extreme frustration:
"bugger! Bugger! BUGGER!" (line from "4 Weddings and a funeral")
I'm in need of a metaball or blobby modeler for creating morfing, blobby-like,
floating, mercury things (what a poor description). I've tried the freeware
"blob sculptor for Windows" which would make nice morf targets, but can't get
consistency in vert/face counts when I do DXF exports/inports. Most perturbing!
The matching vert/face counts are essential for morphing, as you all know.
Any "rays" of wisdom out there?
If I can't find anything suitable, I'll have to give the work to somebody using
Soft-fromage (aka Softimage). Softimage makes this kind of stuff a piece of
cheese, but I need the work. Help!
Martin
Have you checked out the metareyes IPAS? It looked quite nice, from what I saw
at siggraph, but I don't know much more than that…

Hi Martin,
<< Any "rays" of wisdom out there? >>
Danny Mercurio had an Alpha/Beta version of his bolb modeller working months
ago.. Maybe you can try contacting him?

The "MetaReyes" metaball modeller is supposedly being marketted by Schreiber.
Also check with Danny Mercurio, he did a lot of research into metaballs a while
back.
David-
The Metareyes Metaballs product should start shipping in early November. There
were a few problems that needed some attention that delayed the release.

The guys pretty much said it. I can give you the phone number for the
Metareyes folks in Madrid if you can't wait until Schreiber Inst. starts
selling it. It's almost done.

I wish I could help you, but I can't. Having read your message though,
could you please tell me where I can get a copy of the Blob for Windows you
mentioned? Thank you.
Jim
thanks to everbody (JohnT, GaryY, JonasR, DavidM and i) for the great response.
I'll check with Danny and Schreiber for the status of their metaball modelers.
>> where I can get a copy of the Blob for Windows <<
Blob Sculptor for Windows is available as (blobw.zip) in the graphdev (graphics
developers forum).

Always find out what your final output res. will be. You can't do much in 6X6
pixels!!<G><G><G> Good seeing you again.
Wade,
>> You can't do much in 6X6 pixels!!<G><G><G> <<
heck, I don't know. The output looked pretty good at 6×6, especially if you
squinted and/or had a few gin and tonics <g>
>> Good seeing you again. <<
Likewise. That seminar was like a big reunion. I saw people that I hadn't for
years. Everyone came out of the woodwork.

You making Stereo Pairs?
That was a great story. Have you done any ofthat 1×1 pixel work yet? 8')
Wade,

it takes great skill to make a 1×1 pixel animation look and play good <g>. "I
want to see a rolling and morphing sensual animation."

But think of how much you could save on render times! I'll let this die now….
