Just got the brand-new version of Intel's video capture
board, the Intel Smart Video Recorder Pro. I had it
on backorder from CDW (800-800-4CDW). $400 or so.
Showed up last week. I'm in a work busy deadline
mode, so won't get it installed for a bit, but will post
reports on it as reality is revealed. Scanned the manual,
though, and things look good. Happy bonus: will take
S-Video input.
Not wanting to rain on your parade, but I tried one last week. It dropped 1/4
of the frames it captured at 320×240. And that was on a system that can sustain
3.5 MBS disk transfer too. I wasn't impressed.

Yea, because I have the ISVR Pro and it does 320×240 @ 20fps flawlessly.

I had a feeling the problem was at the 30 fps capture rate. Despite the
marketing hype, no one I've talked to has gotten 30 fps at 320 x 240. As noted
by David, 15 fps at 320 x 240 is quite doable and appropriate for multimedia /
CD-ROM playback. Which makes the ISVR Pro a great board in its class,
considering its other virtues (IMHO).

Yes, I could do 15 FPS just fine. Just couldn't do 30. I would bet the hardware
could do it but the capture software is probably where the slow down is.

Yep, I'll be reporting.

is to take all hardware claims and divide by 2 )))

My own needs are simple: I'll be doing little video nuggets to
sprinkle in with other stuff. So 15 fps will be fine, and I sniff
I'll be able to get 30 fps in small rectangles (say 200h x 150v).
And thanks to you and everyone else for the flood of thoughts and data.
Isn't our little cyberclubhouse grand ??? Life on earth is getting
itself wired up nicely ….
