Well, the GXE64Pro and the Diamond Stealth 64 both use the S3 964 chipset, and the Diamond is actually a little cheaper, but I've had lots of trouble with Diamond's drivers, (mainly Windows), and they are a larger company than NumberNine, and I felt I didn't get very good tech support from them because of this. (Trying to reach them by phone was usually a losing battle.) I feel NumberNine just puts a little more thought into their products. (Kinda like AVIS; "We try harder".) As for the ATI, it's been well documented here on the forum that there have been delay problems entering 3DS and switching modes. Also, several users report that Windows locks upon entering after using 3DS with the ATI card; 'sorry, I just don't need that kind of aggravation. >> Also do you feel that SCSI drives work any better or faster with 3DS? In the Sept. 27 issue of PC Magazine, some 40 Pentium 90's were reviewed. In all cases, IDE drives connected via the PCI local bus outperformed the SCSI drives, plus they're easier to set up than SCSI. Unless you really need SCSI for some other reason, I'd stick with IDE on the local bus.
