The latest news here in the UK according to Amiga Computing magazine Feb 95 issue is:- Donald Pleasance (Amiga International) at the World of Amiga show 9-12 Dec '94 stated "Last Tuesday we made a definitive bid to the liquidator and that bid was supported by documentation that proves that we have all the funds. Plus, we paid the deposit and that went in last week. On the 21st December '94 there is a creditors meeting and we're going to ask them to approve the offer – we don't actually need their approval but it would help if we had it because it means nobody can argue about it [the first bid]." The liquidator Franklyn Wilson's response was "Well let me put it this way. Evidence of good faith is being put forward to us but we do not yet have a definitive agreement. That's the bottomline." Alex Amor of CEI stated "I can't speak for Mr. Pleasance and certainly can't make any comments on that, but I would find it very hard to believe that the liquidator had not informed us of that event… we're still talking to the liquidator on a daily basis. I think that if the first bid had occured, they would definitely tell us so." Donald Pleasance responded, "I can assure you that he has received the bid and has also received the money. My understanding is that the money should have gone into the bank account yesterday [15/Dec/94]." Franklyn Wilson the liquidator also adds "It's taking a long time because, while the Commodore corporate structure might have been particularly efficient for regulatory and tax reasons as a going concern, it is a literal nightmare for a liquidation because of the multitude of jurisdictions and because of the complexity of the corporate structure. It's a constantly shifting sand as more players get in the equation. That's a true cause of the problem." So thats it draw your own conclusions.
