Geo conference?
6 messages in this thread
Hi, folks–
Who might be interested in holding the 8th pseudo-quarterly geo-conference in
a conference room of this forum in a few weeks? Any geo-science/rockhounding
topic will be fair enough, considering that past conferences have discussed
topics including Beakman's World, Oregon thundereggs, natural nuclear reactors,
hazardous (to your wealth) Franklin mineral dealers, Bancroft minerals,
carbonatites, CCD imaging of specimens, and many more. To get a rough idea,
transcripts of a couple of past conferences are in the geo section of Science
forum's library as filenames GCON*.ARC.
Are there suggestions for a lead-off topic? Who likes which of the following
dates? Sunday Oct 30 Sunday Nov 6 Sunday Nov 13
We have traditionally held these at 1 PM Pacific time on a Sunday afternoon,
but there is no law here – what other times would anyone interested prefer?

Hi, Doug

November 6 might be a bad day for Lanny and I. Don't know if Michael was
planning to attend, but the Northwest Micro Mineral Study Group is having
their Fall 1994 meeting on November 5th at the Clark County PUD Building in
Vancouver, WA. There is a possibility of a field trip on the 6th (weather
permitting).
I don't have a problem with the other dates.
Thanks, Guy
Doug- Sunday, 10/30 is fine for me. As for topics… perhaps Rockhound Safety
would be a timely topic. Another idea is digital publishing, is it time for
Rock Bytes?

Hi, Michael–
I take it from Guy's message that 11/6 is out of the running. Is 11/13 viable
for you, in case someone cannot make 10/30?

Doug,
11/13 or 10/30 is probably ok with me, but nothing is definite until it
happens. I am going to try to stay home, no more field trips in the snow!
Lanny
I Think I have weekend duty at work that weekend (11/13). Will check tomorrow
and let you know if it is open.
