can you disable your paralell port and add an ISA board paralell port?
Also I saw an add in a CAD magazine for software that will allow you
to run without that hardware lock. The only reason I tell you this
is because I hate those locks. Space is a premium for me and these
locks make my computer sit out away from the wall even further. This
is strong language but Diaquest needs to be slapped for thinking they
should use a hardware lock. I bought their software but I don't use
it. (anyone need a diaquest hardware lock?) Also, I have never been
able to run 3d studio with a printer attatched. I paid for my copy.

You need to have the printer turned on and printing " I will never say anything
bad about hardware locks again" 1000 times. When this is done printing do not
turn off the printer but attempt to launch 3DS. It should now recognize the
lock just fine. <BG>
I have my locks on a short length of ribbon cable, and velcro'd to the side of
the case.
There is also a card available that allows you to put your locks internally.
Hi Jeff, I'm going to jump in here to sugest a solution to the hardware lock
problem, some of our machines have 5 dongles after bending a port one of my
clients brought a little box over to the studio that will hold up to 6 locks
and can be placed away from the work area. The box is quite nice and
manufactured by a local college professor. The idea is fairly simple, I think
a couple of parellel cords might solve the space problem. The box is nice
though because it protects the dongles, has a lock and key on it for those "We
use alot of Freelance help" situations, and it simply "works" and I didn't have
to crawl around on the floor "one more time" to install it. Anyway mabey the
parellel cords idea is worth a try.
