ok. this is getting old… I've just installed a new quantum 170 mg HD in my
amiga 2500. I already have a quantun 40 meg. so I am addind the 170 mg internal
w/scsi to the system…ok. wont low level format w/ HD toolbox. will format w/
workbench format disk routine. so I can get it to configure..but I cant
transfer data from one HD to the other w/out it locking up. i cold boot and
there are checksum errors at block where head was when machine was turnrd off.
( iguess) this is the second drive that this has happend with. I have all the
correct connections..I assume it must be something in my startup or the a2091
control card ..however…I have gone through all procedures included in all
manuals that I have.. still nada! if any one has sugest please leave a messege
here or at openegg@usa.net

Tom,
The original A2091 had problems transfering data from one drive on the
chain to another drive on the chain. This was fixed with a ROM update. Is it
possible that this is an older A2091?
Unfortunately, my Amiga is packed away for a few months while I'm
moving….so I can't check which ROM I have on mine (which works fine for drive
to drive transfers) to tell you which version does work.
Perhaps one of the other members can remember what the minimum ROM
revision you need.
Don
The last 2091 ROM revision was 7. That possibly could be the problem.
Also SCSI termination could be the culprit, the 40 MEG drive should have the
terminator resistor packs removed.
Sounds like termination problems. If your new Quantum 170MB was installed
as the last SCSI drive on the internal SCSI cable, then you need to remove
the termination resistors from the 40MB drive and install them on your new
170MB drive.
