Just picked up "The Klingon Dictionary" written by Marc Okrand, published by
Pocket Books. Its got some great stuff in it! Anybody else have a copy?

Ken Dyke talked about a Klingon locale for the Amiga after he saw one on
the Mac. I don't know if he ever did it.

Add me to the list of "I'll buy it!" for a Klingon Locale! I'd LOVE to
see a good Klingon<->ASCII translator to pipe text files to/from. 🙂

Hey, John, why not make a Scala interface that would teach Klingon
interactivally? <g> Have you seen the Klingon Dictionary book-on-tape?
It is recorded by Michael (Worf) Dorn. It should be a hoot.

Yeah, I saw a page ad for it in the back of the dictionary. I may pick it up
at my local Borders Book Store.
Actually, it wouldn't be hard to add the written language to Scala MultiMedia.
The .msg module allows you to add any font. We already have it in Arabic.

Ahh, but can you make an interface that will take English in one window
and translate it to Klingon in another window? Maybe have a button that
will pronounce the Klingon translation?
Here's a trivia question: What is the name of the Klingon homeworld?
Kronos, if I heard Quark and a few others correctly in a recent episode of
Deep Space Nine. Is that the correct spelling, at least according to
someone semi-authoritative?

Very good! You were, as you thought, incorrect about the spelling of
the planet. According to the "Star Trek Encyclopedia" it's Qo'noS
(capitalization is correct.)

Er, that would be an interesting exercise. Not that much of a market though.
We would have to give a good portion of our earnings for the Paramount
licensing fees. ;-}

It was mentioned by name in the Deep Space Nine episode "The House of
Quark" and the name is pronounced "Kronos" but it is spelled (according to
the Star Trek Encyclopedia) as "Qo'onS" (capitalization is correct.)
I don't know when DS9 is shown in your area but this weeks story
features Dax. There are some interesting shots of Bashir scanning her
prone form and we get to see Dax take a milk bath, sorta. You'll see what
I mean. <g>

DS9 is usually on Saturday. Some of the guys here think that Terri Farrel, who
plays Dax, has a very high "schwing" factor. I'm sure they will be drooling
over the TV sets this weekend. ;-}

I remember debating with friends whether Kira or the slug had a higher schwing
value. I think I voted for the slug. 🙂
Speaking of, in this month's Rolling Stone, you'll learn the vaguely Amiga-oid
connection between Liv Tyler, the brunette in the Aerosmith videos, and Todd
Rundgren, Amiga video-maker: Rundgren served as foster father for many of her
formative years, in one of those strange rock-and-roll adoptions. Papa Steve
Tyler wasn't up for the job.

Real trivia mavens will realize that "Qo'onS" must really be a Klingon
colony planet, not the homeworld. The original was rendered uninhabitable
50 years after the events in "Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country", or
30 years before DS9. Remember "praxis" the exploding moon….
