I was doing the exercise on Mountain Water ins 3DS Special Effects and I
cannot file the file SCENE-3A.TIF. Could you please give me a hint as to
where it is.

it should be in the same directory as the rest of the exercise. I don't have
that stuff here at home, but I'll look for it at work tomorrow where I have
both the book and cdrom.
That's what I thought too – but it wasn't 🙁

And worse than that, 3DS can't find it, either. <g> I just picked up my copy
last night and can confirm your "loss." But, it seems to be used only as a
reflection map, so probably most anything would do. For example, I thought I
might just scan in Martin's physiognomy from page 36 and use that!

most annoying. there's 3 or 4 files missing from the CD (mountain water
chapter) that I'm sure I submitted. anyway you're right you could substitute
photo.tga or anything suitable for the reflection map. to do it right you'd
bring photo.tga into a paint package and crop out the black border and save it
as scene-3a.tif.

would also appreciate it.
