#MGA impression + drivers
4 messages in this thread
I just purchased a new system with a Matrox MGA Impression + card in it.
Documentation said download the latest Vibrant drivers (3DS3) and they should
support the card. I downloaded the latest yesterday (Version 1.0.5 —
10/07/94). There are options for some of the older versions of this board
(Impression 1024 & Impression 3MB) but not indicated for the MGA Impression
Plus (brand new PCI board with 2MB). I tried all of the Matrox drivers
available and none worked. I also tried the Matrox AutoCad drivers that ship
with the board. They work but do not appear to support 16bit or 24 bit
rendering displays. Any help?
In case anyone's in a really knowledgable mood, I'm also trying to run a Kurta
XGT digitizing tablet in 3DS3 with no luck. The cursur gets confined to about
one quarteer of the screen. Any more ideas?
It's possible that the differences in the Impression Plus (it uses several
chipsets in addition to the MGA chip) make it as yet not supported. You should
contact Chuck Walbourn from Vibrant for confirmation on this, though. He hangs
out on the forum, but I don't have his CIS #

We think that the Impression Plus is an Athena chip, but we are having some
problems in getting these boards in house. Version 1.0.5 should work.

Glad to hear it, as that will probably be my next PC video card purchase.
