#NET Rendering
4 messages in this thread
I am using windows for workgroups and DOS add-ons.
I can copy in dos files from other network drives(peers) but in
3d-Studio i don't see anything in my Network Log.
I am using NE2000 apaptor and I think I need IPX adaptor (ipx.dos file?)
but I'm not sure….
I have 3d-Studio for a long time but I still can't render stuff with
NetWork rendering…
Please Help
Sus.
All 3DS basicaly requires for net rendering is that each machine be able to see
a shared directory on some hard drive. WFW will work, although it has a lot of
memory overhead that many people wish to aviod. If you don't see the machines
listed, most likely the drive mappings and/or settings in the 3DSNET.SET are
not correct.
Download the 3DSNET.TXT technical paper from the 3DS library. It talks about
setting up Network rendering in the environment you have.

Thanks Brian I will download the file. but I have tried all the books and
manuals that I could find and I still can't
make it work. I'll tell you my configuration, mayber you could help.
Pentium 90, Windows for Workgroups, Stealth 64, 32 Megs, Node runner
2000 Network Card.
With Thanks.
Sus.
Aside from the Diamond card, I've tried that same configuration. It works. Read
the 3DSNET.TXT article paying specific attention to when it talks about peer to
peer networks. You just need to set up your drive mappings correctly.
