———————————————————— Nik, here again the problem description: I#m looking for an Expert, able to help solving a persistent problem in trying to run Autodesks Animator Pro V1.3a in higher resolution than 320×200. I could run AniPro in resolutions 640×480 and 800×600 on my 386/33MHz Machine with the Hercules Graphite board. Several weeks ago I changed the system. Now using a Pentium/90MHz-PCI with Matrox Ultima (MGA PCI/2MB) board. After some trial and error 3DStudio R3 is now running well on high resolutions , even for rendering an material editor, by using the newest Vibrant-drivers. Since more than 3 weeks I spend a lot of time in trying to solve the problem with AniPro: Doesn't matter if a start AniPro with the build-in driver for 320×200 and then changing resolution via the menue to Vesa 0, 1,2 or 3 (Res. 640×400,640×480,800,600, etc.) or starting with "ani -drv vesa x" (x=0,1,2,3), the result is always the same: "Abnormal Program Termination: Illegal Instruction CS:EIP=D408h:00006E24h". Technical Info: Intel Motherboard "Plato P54C/PCI", 16 MB RAM, 1GB HDD, MGA PCI/2MB, Soundblaster 16 MultiCD, FAST-VideoMachine-board, DOS6.2, Windows 3.1, MGA II Powerdrivers 1.42 (downloaded from CompuServe), (Meanwhile I got also the newest BIOS-chip for the Matrox-Board) When I start AmiPro from Windows (DOS-box) then the same happens. But for 320×200 there is again an other effect: the lower quarter of the screen shows a "black/red chess pattern" covering the AniPro ControlPanel. BTW I tried almost all possible EMM386 Excludes….. I hope for successfull help soon. Dietmar Rudersberg/Germany

Dietmar, I had this problem too. You have to exclude specific upper memory regions from use by your memory manager. I use QEMM and had to exclude the area from F000 TO F7FF. You'll also have to load the VESA driver that comes with the board before you start AAPRO.
