Hello,
I;m a novice who wants to make animations and tape them on video. However I
don't know how. I;ve read some articles about this subject, but I need some
help. Perhaps you can?
What I know is that for the best result one has to render his animations as
frames and then tape them on video. But what kind of software do I need to do
that job. What kind of videorecorder do I need to have. I'd like to tape on
S-VHS or Hi8. Do I need other hardware?
Perhaps you can help me and even name some models/types.

Have you heard of the DPS Personal Animation Recorder? "You can record and
playback full motion video and true color animation sequences"<-from the ad.
I've seen it playing back and it looks good. It's a 16 bit card and software
and also requires a 1.7 or 2.something Gbyte drive (dedicated for animation I
think). Actually to capture videa you need an optional DPS VT-2600. The
playback card is $2000 (PAL version for $2500). I don't have this card yet, but
it's the one I want to get, I'm saving my money…..

I personally use a MARS MPEG board. It's a great little device, True color, the
animations are compressed, send output to either a S-VHS or standard VCR, and
comes in two varieties, MARS 1 (350×240) and MARS 2 (700×500). It doesn't give
crystal clear results, but it's a whole lot less expensive then other routes
you could take, and unless your doing broadcast quality stuff, it gets the job
done best. Very easy to hook up. Send me a message if you want info on who to
