I know this has been like beating a dead horse and actually I am not sure this is the correct forum (I am not using 3DS), but I do own a PAR and am also running Windows 95. I am using Lightwave 4.0 NT version under windows 95 and cannot access the drive. It shows up under the explorer, it will let you access it but it shows all the dirs from my c: and the par actually shows up as a folder that when clicked on makes the error 'Folder "E:\PAR_DOS" does not exist". Now if I where running a DOS based program this would not cause a problem, since lightwave is a windows app I need to be able to at least save the files to the par drive then I can always dump out to the PAR.EXE. Anyone got any simple Ideas? Of course its 10:10 EST and I can't call DPS. Thanks, JP.

Jerry, Join the club. There are quite a few of us here who still can't get the PAR working acceptably under Win 95 and we all share the same problem that you described. The PAR drive shows up as a mirror of the C: drive plus what ever other drives you may own. In my case, my 1.27 megabyte PAR drive is showing 7.43 terabytes free out of a total of 9.5 and I can't read or write to it at all from Win 95 unless I go to DOS. Most of us have either gone to NT or switched back to regular Windows. There hasn't been a fix for this problem yet as far as I know. Don

Yeah there does seem to be a problem…. I called DPS today…nothing for win 95 just some NT stuff coming out before the end of the month. I can use the PAR.EXE from a dos window (full screen). I think I will just have to stick with putting files in a temp dir and then import them to the par drive…it works for now. Strange thing happens now….In REAL dos 6.22 I cannot use the par dos program! It just locks, under Windows 95 Dos (not DOS mode) it works fine! I have remove everything in my config.sys and autoexec. Anyone got any ideas? Here is a breakdown of the system: Pentium 90 (Triton) 32 megs of RAM 2- 730 Meg HDS 1- 540 Conner connected to the PAR. Matrox Imp+ 4 meg PCI card. 1 NE2000 Card Sound Blaster 32 Anyone have any clues? Any help would be appreciated. JP.

Hi Jerry, >>Strange thing happens now<< I've got similar effects with DOS programs, not particluar with PAR.EXE. I think it has got to do something with Windows 95 file sharing and locking. Most of the DOS programs I execute in DOS mode don't run under GUI of Win 95. I still have no solution thoug i tried i couple of things including write protecting files. The only thing that helps is to keep a backup copy of the executable, because overwriting the EXE with one that was not executed helps. Maybe someone else has got a better solution. Murat
