#3DS with Matrox

Hi everybopy,
today we've got our copy of 3DSr4 :-)))))
Unfortunately I'm using one of those Matrox Imp+ with 4Mb. Anytime I wanted
to configure the vibrant graphics drivers an error message occured:
MGA board not found…
The standard divers for VESA compatibles only works in 640×480 8bit with the
Matrox which is awful and flickering.
Please tell me what to do.

HI, I am using impression + with 2Mb. Maybe you have the older driver. You can
download the new vibrant driver on the forum. it works well for me.
hi Ken,….I'm using a Matrox Imp plus with 4mb running 3ds4. I downloaded the
latest vibrant drivers from the BBS and I am getting major slowdowns in 3ds4!
especially when I switch modules..(mat editor to 3d editor to displaying
images…blah blah blah.) Do you have this problem too? my resolution is set
up 800×600 24bit on each module and I am using the impression plus driver under
the mga impression vibrant drivers.

I have the same thing. It takes about 2 seconds to switch modules. I never
use other boards with 3ds, so I can't compare. I always thought that is the
way it should be. In windows, the virtual desktop takes about 2 seconds too
for switching modes. Otherwise, I don't have any other problem.

I've tried several boards on 3ds…..I even have an old impression board (the
1st one) and even that changes modes instantly! I can't believe why the
impression plus is so slow! My delay is more than 2 seconds…mine is about
5-8 seconds…it gets pretty annoying actually. The Diamond boards and ATI
boards perform even better….(except under windows of course) but do you think
it is because of the slow DOS performance matrox cards have been known for
that's doing this? anyways…I tried calling tech support and it takes
forever…if ever they respond.

I noticed the same problem with my MGA Imp+ 4mg card. The card had never given
me any problems before I loaded the 1.0.7.p1 drivers. I switched back to
1.0.6.p1, and the 2 second pause while switching between modules went away. The
lastest version of the Vibrant drivers were supposed to fix some of the
problems people were having with the MGA cards. I think there might be a few
variations of the same card from Matrox floating around out there.
I would concur that the older drivers provide almost instant switching between
modules when using Matrox Ultima+ and Impression+ boards. Conversely to some of
the other postings in this thread I have had serious module-switching problems
with Diamond Stealth 64 and Stealth Video 64 boards with 4MB VRAM. I run all of
my modules at 1152×882 resolution, except for the materials editor which is at
800×600.

about Matrox gets asked a lot. You might also set back your date on messages
and check for headers in the Hardware section with Matrox in the title.
