#wacom tablet artZ for 3d
6 messages in this thread
How do I set up the wacom Art Z tablet to work with 3d studio release 3? The
tablet works fine in Animator Pro and in windows but not in 3d studio. Do I
need a special driver? Can you supply it to me? Thank you very much for your
assistance.

Most people have best results with any tablet by running it in Mouse emulation
mode.
Thank you very much for your response! 🙂 Sorry, what do you mean mouse
emulation mode? How do I set that up? I really appreciate your help.

I don't know the particulars of your tablet, but most have a mode that allow
them to run like a mouse. Set up yours to run as a mouse, and tell 3DS that
your pointing device is a mouse.

Thank you, I do have a Wmouse command that makes the tablet act as a mouse. I
will try to make it work that way.
Isaac, 3DS recognizes WACOM ArtZII as a mouse, no problem. But there is an
interesting point: Many of us, after coming out of Windows, have to run WTEST
(located in the Wacom subdirectory). This seems to reactivate the DOS driver,
even though the driver is resident in memory. If I don't run WTEST after
leaving windows I get a frozen cursor in 3-DS and Ani-Pro. Other than that, the
Wacom has been great in 3DS… actually solved a lot of discomfort I had with
the mouse and generally more precise. One other point – WACOM claims that you
should load the WMOUSE driver in low memory. I have loaded it both low and high
and have seen absolutely no difference in performance and have not seen any
system unhappinesss as a result of loading high. So, I keep WMOUSE loaded high.
