#AAS1.1_avi problem

I just received aas1.1. The output avi files do not show up in Razor Pro only
in the player mode. Why??? in:sync states that they adhere to strict avi specs
and that it is a problem with aas1.1 not sticking strictly to Microsoft's
specs. My original aas1.0 showed up fine. We seem to be going down hill here,
not up. AAS1.1 is faster though. Atleast something is working. Any ideas about
the avi??? Razor suggests that I save out in tga files but that is a lot of hd
space and avi is ok for my purposes.

woh. hold the phone, clif. Microsoft's AVI spec? <g> no such beast. AVI's have
had several schemes for years, depending on the CODEC being used. AAS handles
several popular formats including some of MS's own (read they have several).
there is no single "standard AVI format".
you may wish to read up on CODECs in the AAS hardcopy. most save as "AVI". 🙂

saving out to a series is a safe bet. in this way, AAS can assemble the series
into a workable AVI format it supports. keep in mind that TGA files also are
not "standard"… there are several types including associative and
non-associative alpha schemes.

Dave, I understand that. I tried to save the animations using a different
compression. I always get a: "KRNL386.EXE @ 0001:1806. gENERAL PROTECTION
ERROR. I don't think that this is an AAS problem but I don't know where to go
with this question. I get it when I use any compression even in VidEdit which
I just got as part of the JumpStart CD from Microsoft. If this General
protection problem is not AAS then please diredt me to the correct place to
post the question and get some help. I am getting the MIRO mpeg2 board this
week and would like to be able to see some results. Thansk,

please do keep me posted on this. this sounds outright weird. my only advice
right now is SUSPECT EVERYTHING…. contact the graphics card manufacturers,
the OS forums, etc. find out who created this EXE and ask about the symptoms.
many of the developers are right here on Compuserve.

I gave up on win3.11. I reformated and everything but to no avail. AAS 1.1
seems to run will under win95. Let's hope it stays that way.
