#Ani Studio Bug?

I have run into a problem with the new (1.1 c1) Animator Studio release.
In the Tutorial, it has a part where an image (the diver) is selected, copied
to the clipboard, and then pasted into a new movie to make a sprite. When I try
to paste the image, Ani Studio gives an error message:
"An internal error occurred – canceling current action". This occurs each time
I try this particular action.
This is on a P-90, 48 MB ram, running Windows 95.
I would appreciate any advice you might have.

check out TUTOR1.ZIP file in Library 2, see if this helps.

we really need more info than this. how much free harddisk space do you have
AFTER you enter Win95, how big is your swap file, what other VideoForWindows
apps do you have loaded, what graphics card are you using, and is AAS the last
application you have loaded onto your system?

346mb free hd space in Win 95
The swap file is being "dynamicly allocated" by Win 95. I tried setting it to a
minimum of 200mb, and it did not help.
Other Video for windows apps – currently we have Adobe Premier 4.0 installed –
going to upgrade to 4.0a soon.
The system has a Diamond Stealth 64 DRAM PCI with 2 mb dram.
AAS was not the last app loaded, we had the old (c.o) release, and a beta
version before that. This (c.1) is the first time we have been able to have it
(almost) working. The Adobe Premier was probably loaded after the beta version
of AAS. I also installed MS office 95 a few days ago, before we started
learning the Ani Studio, so I am not sure if it changed anything, although it
did make the AAS program group dissappear from the start menu. (?)
I tried re-installing AAS from the CD (into the same directory), and it did not
fix it.
Does this make it more clear?

coupla possibilities…

make sure to delete the entire AAS directory before installing it from scratch
as the very last application be loaded.

there are older drivers shipped with this product. having a stealth myself and
knowing about that BIOS problem they just recently resolved, you may wish to
download their very latest BIOS drivers. this has cured several people's
problems similar to your own.

I deleted & reinstalled the Animator Studio. Same problem.
Diamond claims that there is not a problem with the Stealth 64 DRAM cards –
they are not offering a BIOS upgrade.
What did work was un-installing Windows 95 and going back to WFWG 3.11. The cut
and paste works fine now.
I would like to use this software with Windows 95.
Do you know what it might be in my Win 95 setup that is causing this problem?

interesting. like… really interesting.

if this is version r1.1 (not r1c0 or r1c1), it is Win95 compatible. if it is
not r1.1, that would explain a lot.

for these symptoms, i don't. maybe Nik or Grant do though. post either of them
the details on the problem, what you've done, and what you're installing the
program on. Win95 version (r1.1) is still pretty new… i don't have a lot of
details on it yet.
