#3DS IPAS SPEED

Hello 3D Studio Gurus.
I'm Robert Bou, president of Vibrant Graphics, Inc. Vibrant Graphics is the
company that has brought you the In-line driver and Liquid Speed.
One of the technologies that we have not capitalized on is our ability to
recompile IPAS routines to be 2 to 40 times faster. I was wondering if this
would be of interest to you as full-time 3D Studio users.
Of course I know that most of you will be switching to MAX as soon as it comes
out, but I was wondering if you would like your IPAS developers to recompile
their routines so that you can work faster until you switch.
I know that we don't want to delay 3rd Party routines for MAX but typically the
first recompile done by a developer takes an afternoon, then each additional
IPAS recompile takes about an hour after that. So the developer loses a day
or two and each user saves a significant amount of time each time they use that
routine.
If there is any interest, please email me with the names of the IPAS routines
you think could benefit you the most if they were 2 to 40 times faster.

BTW – I know that this borders on advertising but my belief is that we may be
able to save each of you an hour each day and make it easier to hit deadlines
and maybe even get home to play with the kids every once in a while until you
switch to MAX or Intel ships the 10000MHZ chips. Also, I don't want to start a
big thread about which IPAS routines are fast or slow, I just want to develop a
list of the most important ones to speed up.

my favorite slow-mo ipas-list includes:
Particle systems (fire / vapor) of Yost /6
Video Post (Glow) of Yost (#3? not sure…)
Bones (Bones pro) of Digmiation (transforming objects slows doowwwnnnn)
gee! i don't want to insult any developper! would be using those ipases even at
half the speed they have now…

Considering that 3DS Max is potentially six months away, I think an interum
speedup would be usefull. Candidates like Bones and LenzFX, particle systems,
off the top would be beneficial.
BTW, any possibility of this technology being applied to MAX plug-ins?

No, MAX won't benifit from this technology.

Lenzfx, and any particle system routine, and most of the SXP's i've seen could
all benefit from some speedup, IMHO.
Correct me if I'm wrong ,but SXP's do not benefit from the vibrant drivers.
SO it wouldn't make a difference.

or not, just thought I'd mention it just in case.
BTW, is your Tmmaker sxp the one you were saying could simulate such things as
raw meat? How much is it these days? I am pretty sure I have all your other
routines.

Yes tmaker sxp is the routine your speaking of. Yes it will do textures with a
POV-RAY like in-put. One nice thing is you have control over the Turbulence and
Noise separately. Unlike POV-RAY's ascii based textures only allow functions on
the Turbulence with Dnoise, and the Dnoise really has no in-put. You also have
a true 3D texture unlike POV-RAY's 2D texture base . The routine is also
animated able . I'll private E-mail you information of it tonight.
