Well, you CAN use low density if you gotta… There are two progams out thar
sumwhare cannl "Split" and "Join".
The Amiga side uses "Split" to break up a large file into low-desity FD size
chuncks, the "Join.EXE" on the MessyDos side puts them back together on the PC.
Now that I think about it, I THINK they came with ADPro…

version?

Does that mean they aren't freely distributable?
There seems to be a shortage of programs to take care of
Mac <-> Amiga transfers. As an example ImageMaster R/T doesn't support
PICT format (perhaps I should switch to another image processing program)
and I have not found one program that will convert 8SVX audio files into
AIFF Mac audio files.!

Perhaps you already know this, but the program `AmiSOX33.lha' claims
"Sox translates sound files from one format to another" and it's list of
sound files include: "Currently, the raw (no header), IRCAM Sound Files,
Sound Blaster, SPARC .AU (w/header), Mac HCOM, PC/DOS .SOU, Sndtool, and
Sounder, NeXT .SND, Windows 3.1 RIFF/WAV, Turtle Beach .SMP, and Apple/SGI
AIFF and 8SVX formats are supported." Haven't tried it myself, but it
sure looks promising <grin>!
The only program I've got that supports PICT directly is ADPro with the
PCP add on. On the other hand, I wonder why not just use TIFF?

I downloaded the IBM version of SOX but I counldn't find the Amiga
version. Do you know the CIS name (which is restricted to a six letter
prefix)?
Now that you mention it, I guess I could have used my PeeCee to do the
conversion, especially considering I am porting it between the Amiga and
Mac on IBM disks. I ended up using two programs: SoundMachine on the
Amiga to convert to VOC format and SoundBuilder in the Mac to convert from
VOC to AIFF. Now that I think of it, it was a real real oversight on my
part to not use the IBM. I guess it's due to my aversion to intel.

Unfortunately, TIFF isn't supported by Director (and other programs).

In my previous post I asked if you knew the CIS name for AMISOX33.LHA
because AutoPilot only listed 6 character names. Will, I set AP for a
single file download and wadya know, I got the file. Thanks for bringing
it to my attention. I'll give it a try (although I don't really need it
anymore…).

Glad you found it here on CIS! I found it on one of my many CDROMs and
it reports Amiga 3.3 version (release 6 patchlevel 11). I had no idea if
it was on CIS, but I certainly wasn't going to let you get away with
claiming my favorite machine doesn't have cross platform capability
<grin>. In fact, I find the Amiga usually is best at this because it is
the underdog in the software market and is forced to support all those
bazaar formats just to be accepted. I note this is something that the
`Director' apparently doesn't have to deal with <wink>. I wish you
success on your project.

Yes, for the most part. However, it's funny in that Director for the Mac
doesn't support the Windows filetypes (BMP,VOC,AVI) and I think D4W
doesn't support all the Mac filetypes.

Thanks. I went to a interview yesterday and they seemed suitably
impressed. It's funny, after years on the Amiga, now that I have some
"main-stream" skills people will actually return my phone calls.
I have to pull the project together before the end of next week (I
shouldn't be here on CIS).

Now that is what I like to see — someone appreciating the Amiga's
magic <grin>!
I've done a few small multimedia projects myself (always Amiga based –
significantly more bang for the buck!) and would like to keep in touch
with others that are doing the same. I'd like to hear more about your
