#LW 3.5 Procedurals
17 messages in this thread
Does anyone out there know how to use the new procedural tectures in
LW3.5? I never recieved any documentation with my upgrade. I'm
talking about CRUST and… oh I forget what it's called. Any help
would be appreciated. Lance…Keepp on Toastin'
'I never received any documentation with my upgrade.'
Well, as a registered owner, you _could_ just call NewTek and get a
manual. Since ALL upgrades were shipped with a manual, my assumption
is that this 'upgrade' did not come directly from NewTek or one of
their authorized resellers? Since you stole my tagline, I see piracy
is a word not unfamiliar to you?
<I see piracy is a word not unfamiliar to you>
I did not pirate anything. When my station bought our Raptor
Plus, our dealer gave us two diskettes with LW 3.5 to go with it.
They did not come with labels attached, nor with any documentation. I
was just trying to get some help. Don't assume the worst of people
before you get the facts.
'our dealer gave us two diskettes with LW 3.5 to go with it.' Gee,
what a great 'bonus'. And I only had to pay $100. (Of course, if
you're throwing your money away on a Raptor Plus, then maybe the
dealer just took pity on you. You do realize, of course, that buying
a Raptor Plus doesn't mean you get free software from another
company?)
Sounds like your dealer's the one you should be crying to.
And, sorry if I'm a real ***hole about this, but there are lots of
people with the cracked version of LW3.5 who seem to expect free
advice from the rest of us who are scraping along w/o the benefit of
free s/w and h/w.
I ended up calling NewTek and they're going to send me a manual.
What do you mean by a "cracked version of LW35"? Is that a piraated
copy?
"cracked version of LW35"
Yes, there are cracked versions of LW3.5, AND LightRave 3.1.
As such, there is an increasing number of 'newbies' on the Internet,
asking questions similar to yours. A recent flame-fest torched some
guy who had the balls to log on and say that he couldn't get his
pirated copy to work, and then he berated the package for not working
on his system. For some reason, he had no trouble justifying his use
of pirated software, since he was 'so poor'.
Well, boo hoo. If he's so poor, then he can drop his internet account
to pay for the s/w! Sorry for being so hard-nosed about this. Glad
you got the info you needed!
Don't be Sorry for being had-nosed about the piracy issue.
I agree 100% with you. The dealer who supplied a "copy" o3.5 should
get smacked upside the head.
While Toaster software is somewhat expensive, including the upgrade
path. It is stillconsiderably less than other software on other
platforms. Personally I think that 795 for a word processor on
windows is 'built-in' piracy. One of the great advantages of Amiga
ownership has been low cost software, and the publisher's deserve
support for keeping our costs down.
"Thanks for your support!" :^)
I usually stay out of things like this, but I'd just had to wade
through a bunch of e-mail on my internet account to & from some
self-righteous pirateer who claimed he 'just wanted to make sure it
ran on his system before buying it.' HAH!
And where do you pay $795 for a windows word processor?!? Maybe SRP,
but _definitely_ not list, unless you're referring to something like
Quark – which is strictly for professionals. Then there's all those
'upgrade' deals', where you get the package for $129. Finally, most
new PC's come bundled with some WP, so it's no real biggie.
(Personally, I always thought Write did a decent job [better than
Amiga's 'ed' or memacs for text formatting], and it comes _with_
Windows. [ie: free])

I will top that: A few months back Tim Jenison and Lee Stranahan
made a special trip out to the LA Toaster Use Group. They Demoed the
Flyer and the rest of the 4.0 system. Just after they had done the
LightWave 4.0 demo some guy in the front row raised his hand and
asked, Will the new version of Lightwave work with LightRave?" I
thought some one was going to get stomped. What a Maroon…
Don't sweat, your tax dollars are at work, paying for endless numbers of
educational Internet accounts, so college kids can learn all about piracy,
e-mail etiquette, and online porn. Obviously, these things are more important
than an education.
Wish I knew where that one came from?
If you want to talk 'tax dollars', move it over to 'Ramblings'.
(Yeah, like paying for Internet is the worst thing those in power choose
to waste money on?!? Ask Newt about keeping the 'frequent flyer' perks
that our tax dollars pay for – he's the one who removed it from the House
ethics bill they voted on today!!!!!!!!)
There's a reason I stay out of political diatribes.

Sorry, I was responding to a message posted back on December 9. I was appalled
by the frequent flyer exclusion, too. Those Republicrats have a strange notion
of "contract". 🙂
Thanks, I know I have a short memory, but couldn't for the life of me
remember what I'd said?!? :^)
I just hope that people are watching what _ALL_ of our elected officials
are doing, regardless of party……..

PMFJI – But thanks to the paying public, Newtek, Oxxi, Utilities
Unlimited, etc are still developing for the Amiga!!
P.S.
How about this for a NEW tagline…
Burnt and Toasted
Toasted not stirred
Just plain Toasted
or
Keep on keepin' on… <G>
