I am looking for an Amiga to set up UNIX on… I have had very little
contact with Amigas though and I don't know which Amigas will run UNIX, what I
need for it, and where to get an Amiga… I know that the Amiga 3000 will run
UNIX… I looked in the classifieds, but there weren't any Amiga 3000's all
there was was a 2000… will that run UNIX?

if you wantm to run the original Amiga Unix on the machine, so yes, it can be
run on an A2000, if it is equipped with an accellerator card (either C= A2620
or C= A2630), and a C= A2091 SCSI-controller.
You will need a QIC-150 (e.g. C= A3070) streamer to install it.

I think I am right in saying that whatever Amiga you decide to use is it must
have an MMU. i.e. anything with an 'EC' chip will not work. For example I
have a 2000 with a GVP-GForce '030 card but because its the 40Mhz version it
has an MC68030EC. Whereas the 50Mhz version has a 'proper' chip….

Might I ask why your Unix platform has to be amiga. If it is a question of
running unix on any available platform, there sure are a lot more PC's readily
available.
