Unless I go for a $$$ third-party SVGA card and install it in my pentium, it
will not do textured graphics at all.

Depends on what you call textured graphics! I consider Doom and its look-alike
as textured graphics based games. And they run rather nicely on my home DX4/100
with a $120 Cirrus Logic card…
