#AmiTCP Install Problems

Dear SYSOP;
Having problems setting up AmiTCP, although I think it is with my system rather
than the program its self. I keep trying to install the program, but I keep
getting an "Insert Volume AmiTCP" message. First off, all of my TCP stuff is
on a hard disk, no partitions. There is a tool on the disk named AmiTCP, but I
have no idea what that means.
I've tried everything I could think of. Searching through the file lists with
the shell, carefully altering the user-startup and some other text files. I
even re-initialized the entire disk (no big loss, I just down- loaded the files
I lost again). Nothing worked. Very frustrating.
I have heard that AmiTCP is hard to install. I tried looking at the text files
from the library, but couldn't find anything for my specific problem. If you
have any idea what's going on, please let me know.

The best advice I can give you is to download IINST151.LHA from the libraries
here – Library 4, I think. If not, then Library 5. This is a script that will
install all of the internet software for you – and will tell you exactly which
files you need to download before doing the installation. Most folks here have
found it makes things really easy.

It sounds like you have not made your ASSIGNs for AMITCP: and possibly
AMITCP:bin. Put an ASSIGN AMITCP: DH0:amitcp in your user-startup. Remember to
replace DH0: with the drive and drawer you put the AMITCP in.
