Hello, Amiga Users, now I am up and running on AutoPilot. I guess I must have
been a little too compulsive about getting everything right, as in my multiple
attempts to set up AutoPilot, I added spaces in front of my password to center
it. It didn't go through that way. The password has to be exactly in the
right place, as determined by the program. I don't know what else I did wrong,
but now this is working, and it seems to be a lot of fun typing messages to
myself on the screen. I've spent most of the past 10 years asking questions
about how to make this Amiga more useful, and during that time, have downloaded
all kinds of fun, solitary programs, and have loaded pictures of all my family,
videos, and animations into my hard disk.
Meanwhile, my friends with PC s and MAC s have been accessing JPL gif files,
making airline reservations, finding out all kinds of neat things from the Well
and the WWW, and asking me when am I going to get a real computer? You've got a
what? Do you have Windows 95? How about Photo Lab? Well, now I can tell them
I've got AutoPilot, and when I finish reading the documentation, I may be able
to use my AMosaic to go on the Net. I wonder how you do that?

Just download IINST151.LHA and you will see!
Now that you have AutoPilot, you can download some viewers like PPShow, Viewtek
and so on, and some datatypes (if you have OS3.x)

Congratulations! I knew there had to be some very simple little thing that had
gone wrong, but never thought about spaces before the password! You're pretty
good to think of that.
For the Internet, look in Library 5 (I think – could be in 4) for IINST151.LHA
– a script that will install the internet programs for you. It will also tell
you exactly which ones to download. Get the files, unpack them with LHA, and
you'll be ready for the Internet – but you have to have some others for the
Web. In particular, you need AMosaic – which is here in our libraries, and
AMosaic requires you to install MUI (Magic User Interface) because it uses some
of the graphics utilities in that program. You'll find MUI in AmigaTech forum,
System Utilities. I don't remember its exact name, but if you use MUI for a
keyword, and are persistent, it will come up. You'll find some other utilities
for it before the program itself comes, since all files are presented to you in
date order and newest first.
You can use your Amiga to make airline reservations and such, just as your
friends do. Just GO EAASY and follow the prompts.

Several of my friends also ask me the same thing. Perhaps we should point
out that gurus are rarer than GPF's (General Program Failures in Windows).
Although I've seen Compaq, Packard-Bell, Leading Edge, Tandy, Aptiva,
Gateway,I've yet to see a 'Real Computer.' I guess they need to find out her
name first! };>
