#Changing to Rigidblks
5 messages in this thread
Hi,
I currently have a Zeus 040/33mhz card driving a Seagate Barracuda. I am
interested in the AFS system I've read about here but doubt if it would work
with my current config for the hard drive.
The Amiga system doesn't recognize the drive in the HD toolbox. Is there a way
to change this. I originally set up the drive with Progressive Peripherals SCSI
toolbox setup. This seems to have disabled the recognition by HDtoolbox.
I would also like to change it in order to be able to use the Sunrize
industries "Bigblocks" formatting feature for the audio work I do on the hard
drive. This also is currently unavailable using the Progressive installation.
Any suggestions on going about this ??

I think that your doubt is unfounded.

You have to change an HDToolBox tooltype (with WB's Info requester) to let it
know what it should use instead of scsi.device to access your hardware. No
problem.

Ok,
That simple, huh ? Well I guess I don't even need to reformat then. Thanks for
the info. I would like to get a copy of AFS. Is it sold directly or through
vendors.

IAM sells AFS to dealers and direct to end users. So support your favorite
dealer if you have one, or download iam.lha to find out about all our good
products and how to order directly from us.

Hi Jerry,
If you want to format a HardDisk using the HDtoolbox you have to start
HDtoolbox with parameters to force HDToolbox to search for the 'device'
example: "HDtoolbox z3scsi.device" (for Fastlane Z3controller)
or "HDtoolbox suprascsi.device" (for the supracontrollers)
or "HDtoolbox warpdrive.device" (for the Macrosystems Warp card)
so you have to know the name of you 'device' …. run sysinfo if you dont know
the right name….
