Dale (or anyone): Do you know if AFS will work with Amiga partitions setup for
use in Mac emulator's like ShapeShifter or Emplant? Or, I could just have AFS
ignore the Mac partition so that it will remain a normal FFS partition?

I don't know how their partitions work, so I don't know. If they are using FFS
and creating a file in it, it should work with AFS. Jason Compton would be a
good guy to ask since he is something of an emulation expert and is doing a
review on AFS. jcompton@xnet.com is his address as I remember it.

Yes. In general, only one filesystem per partition. All filesystems ignore any
partition you don't tell the filesystem to pay attention to.

I need to know if AFS (either version) will work with XPK-type compressors. I
use DiskExpander, a commercial product that squeezes executables down using a
variety of alternative methods, including BLZ, XPK, Powerpacker format, etc.,
with any one method per partition.
I also use Hypercache 2.0 with this setup and would hate to lose it as it does
speed up disk access noticeably.
Thanks for your interest in AFS. I forwarded your question to AFS and within a
couple of hours, David Southwell of Fourth Level responded to your questions as
follows:
Dislexpeander is not OS legal and will therefore not woprk with AFS. I
understand that DE author is working on remedying the problem.
You can use power data, or a XPK shareware packer or even Matt Dillons
fsolv-handler which comes with Dice will work fine.
Hypercache is fine as long as you disable write cache (Otherwise you will risk
losing data if you crash the machine).

If you have a partition dedicated to the Mac emulation, AFS is irrelevant. Mac
HFS is what's on those partitions, AFAIK.

That's what I thought Paul, but thought it would be safer to ask than risk
loosing my Mac partition <g>. Thanks to you and the other Amiganoids for the
info! I'll probably buy the PRO version after I get back from Spokane. Didn't
want to risk having it shipped and not being around to pick it up <g>.

Should be no problem as the partition will be formated in Mac-format anyway. I
don't know if filedisks would work, but that's not a very usable option anyway.

Sure, a filesystem is installed on a partition. You can use a different
filesystem on each partition you have.
